Sure, the new Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max will cost you plenty, but it also beats its competition. While it was just announced last Wednesday, the iPhone 14 Pro Max was already put through a benchmark test against a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and came out on top.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra vs. the iPhone 13 Pro Max
This is actually the second Apple iPhone in a row to beat the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The iPhone 13 Pro Max was put through a benchmark test against the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S22+, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and Google Pixel 6.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max beat out all four of those phones in three key areas: single-core, multi-core, and machine learning scores. The closest one in the test was the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It scored 1232 in single core, 3433 in multi-score, and 448 in machine learning. The Apple smartphone scored 1735 in single core, a whopping 4647 in multi core, and 948 in machine learning.
Apparently, that helped in sales, as while Samsung is Apple’s leading competitor in smartphone sales, Apple is the clear winner, specifically in the fourth quarter in recent years. This isn’t too surprising, with new models of the iPhone being released every third quarter.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra vs. the iPhone 14 Pro Max
The iPhone 14 series was just released at an Apple Event last week, but there are already GeekBench benchmarks for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Its single-core score is 1879 (a big improvement on the iPhone 13 Pro Max), its multi-core score is 4664 (which isn’t that higher than last year’s), and the machine learning score is 2592, which seems like a dramatically-improved score.
Much of the upgrade for Apple can be traced back to its use of the A16 Bionic chip. It’s another game-changer, just like M1 and the new M2 chips in some Mac and iPad Pros.
It’s results like these that have led Apple to sell more smartphones than any other brand, with Samsung its closest competitor. Samsung continues to make questionable moves with its devices, and that certainly helps Apple’s sales as well.
Having these benchmarks released in the first few days of sales for the iPhone 14 Pro Max will certainly help its sales, along with the rest of the series. With the Samsung Galaxy S23 series expected to be released early next year, that could change the game again. Perhaps one of the phones in that series will beat the iPhone 14 Pro Max. We’ll just need to wait and see.
